A middle-aged woman poisoned her two daughters and committed suicide over husband’s infidelity at Gituamba village in Gatanga, Murang’a county of Kenya on Sunday morning, January 15.

The woman reportedly left behind a suicide note in which she accused her husband who is a Kenya Defense Forces officer, of having extramarital affairs.

It was gathered that the woman held a family party on Saturday evening in which she shared a cake with her kids, only to poison them afterwards.

According to K24TV, an eyewitness said that the woman woke the next day, swept the compound, took a rope and went to the room where the children were and hanged herself.

The eyewitness said; “We even found the broom she was using to sweep the compound lying outside their house.”

Kakuzi Deputy County Commissioner Angela Makai while confirming the incident said the mother poisoned her daughters aged five and two years with a pesticide before hanging herself.

Makai added that they believe the husband and wife have been having domestic conflicts which pushed the woman to take her own life and her daughters’ too.

She said; “Police have launched investigations into the matter and we are hoping to get answers on what actually transpired.”
