Kebbi attack: How bandits fleeing Zamfara murdered 16 Nigerians – Police

The Police in Kebbi State, on Monday, said 16 persons, not 50, were killed by bandits in Dankade village on Friday.

WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that a number of armed men attacked the community in Danko/Wsaagu Local Government Area of the state.

DSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) the deceased included security operatives.

He said the incident happened around 3.00 pm as bandits coming from Zamfara invaded the Dankade and killed 13 civilians, 1 police officer and 2 soldiers.

“Police patrol teams mobilised to the village and engaged them, resulting in the loss of one of our police officers and two army personnel.

“Thirteen civilians were killed. We eliminated an unknown number of bandits in the duel”, the PRO noted.

The spokesman further confirmed that the criminals set some houses ablaze.

Abubakar said an investigation had commenced and urged the people to assist with information about the perpetrators.
