The Enugu state local government legislator, Nnamdi Odo has given insight on why he decided to ride on Keke Tricycle instead of the popular flashy car on his wedding day.
The wedding took place on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Saint Patrick’s Catholic church Obollo-Afor, Udenu local government area of Enugu state.
Hon. Nnamdi Odo in an exclusive interview with our reporter stated that he decided to make difference instead of going the popular way of displaying flashy cars and affluence on his wedding day.
According to him, “two things inspired my choice, the first is that I wanted to inspire a paradigm shift; we need to cut our coat according to our pockets. I didn’t want to borrow a Lamborghini that I cannot afford to impress the society. Keke reflects a middle class anyone can afford. I didn’t want to impress anyone with what I cannot afford.
“Secondly, riding on the keke was more fun for me and my wife, we loved the shocks on people’s faces, enjoyed the cool air and nothing could have been more fulfilling than this.”
On the impact on his political image, Hon. Nnamdi Odo who is the leader of all the Executive leaders in the seventeen local government areas of Enugu state further stressed that,”as the Councillor representing a ward in the Local Government Area, I am in the grassroots and there is no better way to be close to my people whom I represent in the council than doing what I have done. So, in terms of the impact on my political image, I thinks it’s wonderful for me and my people who I represent.”
Asked how his wife reacted to the idea, Hon. Odo who is representing Obollo-Afor ward in the local government legislative council said “she was so excited about the idea. In fact she was so eager about it that even when I considered other options she made sure I didn’t change my mind. Her brides maid tried talking her out but she was resolute and she felt so fulfilled after the ceremony.”
On why many people get broke after wedding/traditional marriage, Hon. Odo explained that “the sample take away is to avoid empty populism and act strictly within one’s means.As it relates to marriage, it is not the display of affluence that makes the home but the sincere and faithful love and respect for each other.”
Hon. Odo equally advised couples to be faithful, transparent and tolerant to each other to avoid unnecessary rancour and acrimony in their marriage.
