National Assembly Officials Grilled Over N500 Million ‘Misappropriation’

Minimum wage

Top officials from the National Assembly branch of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) have been questioned about an alleged N500 million financial misappropriation.

WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the NASS officials were grilled by operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).

The FCID reportedly questioned three affected officials for several hours on Wednesday before granting administrative bail on self-recognition.

The police invitation letters were sent to the officials via the National Assembly’s office of the Permanent Secretary, Human Resources and Staff Development.

Separate letters were sent to PASAN, National Assembly Chapter Chairman Sunday Sabiyi, Financial Secretary Stacy Nwodo, and Treasurer Samtiya Daniel, inviting them to appear at the Police Department on Wednesday.

According to the Daily Trust, the invitation came as a result of a petition signed by nine suspended PASAN officers accusing the executive of financial misappropriation.

Amos Enobong, PASAN’s Assistant Public Relations Officer in the National Assembly, confirmed the development in a message titled ‘Police Invitation to PASAN Executive, National Assembly Chapter,’ which was sent to PASAN members yesterday.

The message read in part;

After interrogations and other processes were carried out, the union executives were granted administrative bail, on self-recognition, and to report back on Tuesday, 4th April, 2023, for further questioning.
