Kano: Nine NNPP House of Assembly candidates drag APC, INEC to court

No fewer than nine candidates of New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) in the just concluded House of Assembly elections in Kano have challenged their arch-rival party All Progressive Congress (APC) and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in court.

The NNPP candidates have filed their respective petitions before the Kano Governorship, National and state House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting at Miller road court complex.

The NNPP candidates who have filed the case against INEC and APC are, Aminu Saidu Ungogo, Isiyiaku Ali Danja, Abdullahi Ali Wudil Manager, Kabiru Getso Haruna, Mahmud Tajo Gaya, Abdullahi Iliyasu, Musa Adamu Ahmad, Aminu Ibrahim Dambatta, Abdu Ibrahim Madaris.

Also, the petitioners have equally prayed the tribunal to grant their request for a motion ex parte.

The applicants have asked the court for a motion ex parte allowing them to inspect the materials used by INEC, during the conduct of the state House of Assembly election, held on March 18th, 2023.

However, their request also borders on seeking the permission of the court to proceed with the fulfillment of all necessary court processes in relation to pursuing their matter.

Also, the NNPP chieftains are in court to challenge issues they foresee to be in violation of the provisions of the electoral act 2022.

The motion exparte were all filed before the court, on 4th April 2023.
