Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, asserted that some state governors were involved in his aborted third-term bid.
A bill to modify the 1999 Constitution and add a four-year term limit extension failed to pass the National Assembly in 2006.
Since the scandal, Obasanjo has repeatedly denied trying to stay in office past 2007, blaming several governors for the whole thing.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Obasanjo discussed his tenure in office and the anti-corruption policies that were implemented during his term.
On his failed third term bid, he said: “The governors, some of them, were doing it for themselves because if the president did a third term, they too would have had a chance for a third term.”
