Marco Silva spoke to me about the ambitions of the Club, and I’m on board

Alex Iwobi is looking forward to reuniting with Marco Silva at Craven Cottage after Fulham signed the Nigerian midfielder in a £22 million deal.

The Nigeria international signed a five-year contract with the Cottagers, and he credits Silva with convincing him to return to London.

Silva signed Iwobi from Arsenal in the summer of 2019, but he was fired three months later after the Toffees struggled to produce results.

Speaking about why he chose Fulham, the 27-year-old said the club’s ambition and Silva’s belief in him drew him in.

I’m buzzing, I just can’t wait to get started, I’m excited to start my journey here, he said.

Marco Silva spoke to me about the ambitions of the Club, and I’m on board. Hopefully, I can bring something to the Club.

It is the second time he signed me and this is with a charm. He wants to challenge for titles. He gave me confidence when he signed me at Everton and I hope I can repay his faith in me. He believes in my abilities. I can’t wait to work under him again.

I felt it was time to leave and return back to London. The history of the club and the ambition and it’s a new challenge. Qualifying for the European competition will be a great deal of achievement for the club.

On his preferred position at Fulham, Iwobi believes his versatility will help the Cottagers.

I can play in numerous positions and can slot into any place in the forward. So whichever works is perfect for me.

I want to do my best for the team. I want to create more memories at the club.

Iwobi appeared in 123 Premier League games for Everton over four seasons, scoring six times. He was named Players’ Player of the Season after being one of Everton’s best players as the club narrowly avoided relegation.

Everton lost 1-0 at home to Fulham on the first day of the Premier League season, and the 27-year-old played the entire 90 minutes.

However, he suffered a hamstring injury in Everton’s 4-0 loss to Aston Villa and missed his former club’s 1-0 home loss to Wolves last week.

After the international break, the Nigeria international is expected to make his Fulham debut.
