The coalition of Muslim women groups in Borno State is urging the government to compensate the victims of a military drone strike that tragically claimed the lives of over 100 Maulud celebrants in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State.

Hajia Adama Muhammad, the President of the group, made this plea during a press conference in Maiduguri on Sunday, condemning the alarming frequency of bombings in the northern region as an ‘unforgivable crime’ against humanity.

Describing the Nigerian Army’s fatal bombardment as a grave offense, particularly in the context of similar incidents in Northern Nigeria, she highlighted the killing of over 200 people in Kala Balge LGA of Borno, as well as others in Niger and Yobe states. These acts of violence have left numerous families in a state of grief, fear, and insecurity, disrupting the harmonious coexistence of various ethnic and religious groups.

The group called for an immediate investigation and disciplinary action against the perpetrators, emphasizing the need for accountability as a deterrent to future incidents. Hajia Adama Muhammad stated, “As we strongly condemn this holocaust done to our people, we also call on the President to implement the suggestions from the panel of inquiry for compensating the families of the victims. We also urge the government to take full responsibility for the medical bills of the injured until their recovery and to provide compensation.”

Furthermore, the group implored all citizens, both within and outside Kaduna State, to remain patient, calm, and law-abiding. To prevent the recurrence of such tragedies, they advised security agencies to carefully verify suspected movements and gatherings of criminals before taking action.

In a concluding remark, the group appealed to every Nigerian citizen to intensify prayers for peace and unity, aiming to alleviate hardships and contribute to building a better and more prosperous nation.
