Bauchi man, 23, rapes 10-year-old boy


In Bauchi State, one Sanusi Umar has been apprehended for allegedly raping a 10-year-old boy with mental health issues

The 23-year-old suspected homosexual, originally from Jingino village in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State, has since been arrested by the police in the north east.

Umar, a vendor who sells garden eggs, tigernuts, and other items, was apprehended by operatives attached to Operation Restore Peace (ORP) on March 28, 2024, around 9:00 pm.

Spokesperson of the Command, Ahmed Wakili, made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday.

According to him, the suspected homosexual reportedly lured the minor with N30 worth of sweets before defiling him behind the AIB filling station in Kofar Ran.

Following preliminary investigations, it was revealed that Umar has been selling his goods at the same filling station for about two years.

Umar was said to have taken advantage of the unsound mental condition of the 10-year old to perpetrate the act.

“Upon removing his trousers, the suspect also removed his own trousers, grabbed the victim from the back and had carnal knowledge of him.

”The victim rushed to the Manager of the filling station and informed him that the said suspect had carnal knowledge of him,” Wakili stated.

He said that the victim, along with the suspect, were taken to ATBU Teaching Hospital in Bauchi for medical examination.

Wakil added that “investigation is ongoing, and once completed, Umar will be charged to court.”
