Senator Sulaiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, representing Kano South, has clarified the motive behind his advocacy for equitable budgetary allocations across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

Sumaila emphasized that the objective, despite facing opposition, is to ensure the timely completion of crucial projects vital for the socio-economic development of the populace.

Expressing concern over the tragic loss of 11 lives in a recent auto accident along the Kano-Maiduguri Road, Sumaila underscored how adequate budget allocations could have expedited such infrastructure projects.

Sumaila recently stated, “The rationale behind our push for equitable budget allocations across the six geopolitical zones is to address the pressing needs of our citizens.”

He continued, “Despite opposition from certain quarters driven by self-interest, it remains our responsibility as lawmakers to advocate for our constituents and compel the executive to prioritize projects that uplift the well-being of our people.”

Sumaila stressed the importance of fairness and parity in budget allocations, highlighting that they are the cornerstones of executing projects directly benefiting ordinary citizens.

“Increasing fairness and equality in budget allocations is essential for the execution of projects crucial to the lives of the common man,” Sumaila emphasized, reiterating the necessity for lawmakers to champion the cause of their constituents’ welfare.
