Sweden legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic has thrown his weight behind the Nigerian national team through a video. The 36-year-old said “Goodluck to people of Nigeria, now that I have retired from international football, You might have a chance to win.”

Gernot Rohr’s men will be looking to redeem their image and remain in the competition as they file out against the Icelandic national team. The three-time African champions were beaten 2-0 by Croatia in their first Group D match played at the Kaliningrad Stadium on June, 16.
An own goal from Oghenekaro Etebo in the first half and a Luka Modric’s second half penalty sealed it for the Eastern European side. In a post match interview, Rohr blamed the team’s poor performance on inexperience and faulted the goals conceded on too many mistakes.
