Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, has insisted he was so confident that Antoine Griezmann would not join Barcelona in the summer, that he could swear on his kids.
Griezmann’s future was the subject of much speculation this summer, with the 27-year-old linked with Barca and Manchester United.
The World Cup winner eventually appeared in a documentary-style video, where he confirmed he would be staying with Simeone’s side.
Griezmann also signed a new deal until 2023 and Simeone says he was always going to stay.
“I swear on my kids that I never saw us losing him.
“I never saw him at Barcelona. I always felt like he would stay,” he told El Partidazo de COPE.
