According to reports, Akpomiemie was on his way out with his girlfriend when unknown gunmen ambushed him and shot him dead at close range in the Uvwie Local Government Area of the state last night Friday, February 15th.

According to eyewitnesses, the masked gunmen came in a Red Jetta and assassinated him, hours before the proposed election which was later postponed.

The victim was shot dead at about 10:15 pm at Afieki Road, Ekpan, Delta State.
