A total of 59,306 candidates are expected to participate in University of Ilorin’s post-UTME test ahead of its next academic session in October.

The institution said it only has carrying capacity for 10,000 students for the 2019/2020 academic session.

Unilorin has experienced the most stable academic calendar among Nigerian universities spanning 18 years of uninterrupted sessions.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday on the conduct of the university’s post-UTME screening exercise, the Director of Corporate Affairs of the university, Mr. Kunle Akogun, said the exercise commenced on Monday simultaneously at the institution’s main campus and its Lagos centre.

Akogun also said that a breakdown of the figure showed that 51,868 were UTME candidates, while the remaining 7,438 are Direct Entry candidates.

The screening exercise, according to Akogun, started on Monday and will end on Thursday.

It may be recalled that the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Age Abdulkareem, had put the carrying capacity of the university for the 2019/2020 admission at 10,000 students

He said that the screening exercise had been peaceful, adding that the candidates had comported themselves in orderly manner.

However, some parents had complained that requirements to sit for the CBT test should be spelt out to candidates in the future, saying that so many candidates were disturbed when asked to produce certain documents before they could write the test.
