Nicholas Mugo Mwangi popularly known as DJ Moh Spice has been arrested by detectives from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit (SCPU), after being spotted with a gun in a popular city club.

Announcing the arrest, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said that he was arrested on Wednesday night following a public outcry after the photo went viral.

The detectives revealed that they recovered the gun spotted in the picture and 174 rounds of ammunition.

“Following Public outcry of a #DJ displaying a Firearm in public, @DCI_Kenya Detectives from #SCPU last night arrested Mr. Nicholas Mugo MWANGI at #SpaceLounge Club, Ngong Rd. A Steyr Pistol & 174 rounds of Ammunitions confiscated. He’s in our custody helping with investigations,” tweeted DCI.

The photo taken at his brother’s birthday party went viral showing the DJ’s gun tucked under his belt after it was shared on social media. The photo led to a public outcry, with Kenyans asking if it was safe to have people flaunting their guns publicly.
