Residents of Kulben village have been left in shock as unknown gunmen suspected to be herdsmen invaded the village and killed 12 people in Kombun District of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau in the early hours of Thursday January 9.
While reacting to the sad incident, the Police Public Relations in the state, DSP Terna Tyopev confirmed the attack and further disclosed that a team of police officers were deployed to the community to prevent further attacks.
He told newsmen;
“As a result, 12 persons lost their lives and one severely injured.
“Immediately we received the information, the commissioner in charge of the command, Mr Isaac Akinmoyede, directed the DCP in charge of Operations, Mr Aliyu Tafida to mobilise to the scene.
“As I speak, our team of detectives and other officers are in the scene of the crime to prevent further attacks.”
Tyopev also revealed that no arrest has been made as he called on the general public to remain calm as efforts to arrest perpetrators of the sad act has been intensified.
