Nigeria leader, President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that the restrictions and regulations passed down to combat the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic would not affect production and distribution of essential commodities in the country.

While charging Nigerians to bear with the situation and comply with the restrictions and regulations already issued by the various authorities charged with guiding the nation through the emergency period, Buhari emphasized that the collective spirit of all Nigerians would help in seeing through the period.

In a statement signed and released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the President commended the unity of purpose so far exhibited by Nigerians in the fight against the pandemic, particularly by heeding the instructions on social distancing and self-isolation, where required.

The President also commended the efforts of the various groups, organisations and individuals that had supported the national efforts in combatting the COVID-19.

He also instructed all agencies of government and regulatory bodies to provide the enabling environment for the manufacturing sector to have access to its supplies so that the wheel of production could be sustained, while the country sorts its way out of the current global health challenge.

“President Muhammadu Buhari commends unity of purpose in fighting spread of COVID-19 in the country, particularly the willingness for self-isolation, social distancing, and contributions of public spirited individuals and institutions who consistently mobilize resources to supplement efforts of Federal and State governments.”
