“I’m impotent”, Suspect, 30, accused of defiling girl, 13, tells court as he pleads not guilty

A 30-year-old man identified as Adeoye Makinde on Wednesday has been dragged by the Osun State Police Command before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly inserting his finger into the virginal of a 13-year-old girl.

The suspect, Makinde was arraigned on one count bordering on sexual assault.

Presenting the matter in court, the police prosecutor, Fagboyinbo disclosed that Makinde committed the offence on 16 June 2020 at about 1:30 PM at Isona area, Ilesha.

According to the charge sheet, “Makinde unlawfully and indecently inserts his finger into the virginal of a 13-year-old girl and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 360 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. Il Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.”

Makinde pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him when the count charge was read to him.

Counsel for the accused, Mr Tunbosun Oladipupo told the court that his client is impotent urging the court to grant him bail on the most liberal term.

The Magistrate, Mr. B.I Omisade however, requested for the medical report from the police and Mr Fagboyinbo presented the report to the court and it was later returned to him after he checked the details of the report.

Omisade said that the medical report that the prosecutor presented to the court indicated that the minor is still a virgin.

He thereby granted the accused person bail with the sum of N200,000 with one surety who must be a blood relation.

He adjourned the case to August 10, 2020 and transfer the matter to Ilesha Magistrate Court for mentioning.
