The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2025 National Convention has come and gone. Despite legal tussles and a court order halting the event, which nearly frustrated the convention, it was eventually held in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Against all odds, new national officers, including the National Chairman, were elected at the convention. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, a senior advocate of Nigeria, emerged as the new national chairman after he reportedly secured 1,516 votes.
In a drastic but shocking turn, several high-profile members, like Nyesom Wike, Ayo Fayose, and Samuel Anyanwu, among others, were expelled over alleged anti-party activities.
It was gathered that more than 3,000 delegates attended the convention, including sitting governors, former party leaders, and National Executive Committee members, among others.
WITHIN NIGERIA observed that three out of eight governors under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) boycotted the national convention.
However, Governor Ademola Adeleke was represented by his deputy, Elder Kola Adewusi, and other leaders of the party who belong to the same political circle as the governor.
