A man who was reportedly caught masturbating while watching a swimwear photoshoot was handed the shock of his life when he discovered the woman he’d been fixating on is an MMA fighter.
Athlete Joyce Vieira and her friend were taking photos at the Praia do Braga beach in Rio de Janeiro when she claims they saw the man performing the sex act.
Joyce and her friend allege that they tried to talk to the man, but he wouldn’t stop – that’s when she decided to take matters into her own hands. The man was later arrested for committing an ‘obscene act’, but has since been released after giving a statement in which he denied the crime.
Opening up about the incident, the MMA fighter said:
“We feel powerless. It’s very strange because he’s going to be in the same city as me, and who knows he might be in the same places. That’s why I have received an innumerable number of messages from women saying that (in similar situations) they didn’t file a report, because they know the suspects would end up being released. I think the punishment for these cases should be more severe.”
Although Joyce has been left questioning the justice system in Brazil, the case will be taken to the Public Ministry who will act together with Special Criminal Court. More on this to come.
