A fatal accident that occurred along Wukari Road Ibbi Local Government Area of Taraba State has claimed the lives of a policeman transporting some suspects to the police area command in Wukari.
This fatal accident occured around 6pm on Monday, September 2, 2019.
It was gathered that the accident occurred few kilometres from where three policemen were shot dead soldiers who freed Taraba kidnap kingpin Hamisu Wadume.
The police officer and the suspects died instantly after the driver of the police van lost control of the vehicle which somersaulted. The police officers who were involved in the accident were attached to DCP Abba Kyari’s team before their death. They were left behind to conduct further investigation on the murder of of three policemen and a civilian by soldiers in Ibbi.
However while an eyewitness, Mallam Kasimu Dauda confirmed that three policemen died in the accident.
According to Daily Trust reports, the state’s police spokesperson David Misal said only one police officer died.
He wrote: “A vehicle with some police detectives, on special investigation, along Ibbi-Wukari road had a fatal accident as a result of bad tyres and it led to the death of a police officer while others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment”.
