Operatives of Lagos State Police Command have arrested a mentally-deranged man identified as Badejo Adewale for setting a resident of Surulere ablaze after pouring petrol on him.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the victim identified as Bolatito Kadara was set ablaze at Hogan Bassey Street in Surulere before he was reportedly rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital.
Following a complainant filed by the sister of the victim identified as Miss Adeola Kadara at Surulere Police Station, the suspect was arrested and currently in police custody.
Reacting to the tragic and sad incident, the Police Public Relations in the state, Bala Elkana confirmed the incident and stated that all efforts to interview the suspect was abortive as he did not utter a word.
He said;
“The victim has been taken to the Lagos Island General Hospital and he is recuperating.
“He made a statement to the police and narrated how Adewale, the mentally-deranged man, poured petrol on him and ignited it.
“The police extended their investigations to the Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba, where the suspect is admitted.”
