As the fight against COVID-19 becomes tougher, Nigeria has recorded 1138 new cases of the deadly virus in 20 states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.
This was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its daily update on Wednesday night, February 3.
According to the NCDC report, Lagos recorded 377 fresh cases while the FCT recorded 172 new cases.
Other states with fresh cases includes Plateau-86, Kano-84, Edo-60, Osun-47, Nasarawa-41, Imo-40, Rivers-36, Niger-32, Oyo-32, Borno-29, Kaduna-27, Delta-18, Kwara-17, Cross River-9, Ekiti-8, Bauchi-7, Ogun-7, Sokoto-6 and Bayelsa-3.
Nigeria has 134,690 confirmed cases of the viral disease. 108,657 patients have so far been discharged while 1,618 deaths have sadly been recorded from the disease.
In other news, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that hours after the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 classified Kogi state as a ‘high risk’ state in the country for the deadly virus, the state government has fired back at the PTF, accusing the COVID-19 taskforce of trying to scare investors away from the state.
Recall that the PTF had on Monday, February 1 warned Nigerians to avoid visiting Kogi state as a result of its unwillingness to acknowledge the existence of the deadly disease, report tests or build isolation centers.
