A mentally unstable woman was mistook for a kidnapper and beat to a pulp by residents of Saki town in Oyo state.
The woman was said to have been nabbed opposite Gedu Estate between 3:45pm to 4:10pm on Saturday, March 12, and accused of attempting to kidnap a young boy identified as Taiwo Muhammed after luring him with sweets and orange.
The residents were said to have descended on the woman, beat her before she was handed over to Amotekun operatives.
According to SakiFirst, the family of the woman now identified as Hajarah, said that she is innocent but mentally unstable and had escaped from where she was being treated.
“Yesterday, a woman was apprehended and accused to be a kidnapper at opposite Sharon rose GEDU-ESTATE Saki,” the report says.
“The name of accused woman is HAJARAH, she was handed over to AMOTEKUN then to Nigeria police
“The woman is mentally deranged which she has been in this state for years. SAKIFIRST met the family of HAJARAH who is from ògìdìgbó..
“They said she escaped from where they are treating her. We are still meeting her family and she will be released for proper treatment from the beating she got yesterday.
“The boy she gave sweet to is hale and healthy, his family confirmed that.
