  • In Uganda, a church made an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest applause
  • A now-viral footage shows church members applauding without any vocal noise, stomping, or musical instruments being used.

Phaneroo Ministries, a church in Uganda, made an attempt to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest applause.

At a Sunday service with the theme “Clap for Jesus,” the congregation seemed to have clapped continuously for a remarkable duration of 3 hours and 16 minutes.

Phaneroo Ministries aimed to surpass the existing record of 2 hours and 5 minutes set by Stevens Clark, who demonstrated his clapping skill during a UK festival in 2019.

In a viral video, church members were observed clapping without any vocal noise, stomping, or musical instruments involved.

Phaneroo Ministries stated that they sought approval from GWR before undertaking the feat.

As of now, the GWR has not made any comments on the church’s attempt. The process of reviewing the documentation and deciding whether the feat will be accepted as a new record or rejected can take up to 12 weeks.

On July 12, GWR issued a warning post urging people to avoid unnecessary record attempts.

Following Hilda Baci’s success in surpassing the previous record, more Nigerians have been attempting to break Guinness World Records.

In May, Baci achieved a 100-hour cooking marathon, setting a new record and dethroning India’s Lata Tondon, who held the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set in 2019.

Shortly after Baci’s achievement, Damilola Adeparusi, another chef, started her own cooking marathon lasting five days. Following her, Adeyeye Adeola attempted to break Baci’s record with a 150-hour cooking marathon. Similarly, Temitope Adebayo, a chef from Ibadan, expressed his intention to cook for over 120 hours.

Not limited to cooking records, Hassan Joshua Bature, a computer science lecturer at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), revealed plans for a 150-hour teaching marathon.

In Cameroon, Danny Zara announced her intention to set a world record for the longest sex marathon.
