A commotion erupted on a bustling stretch of Lekki road in Lagos when a depressed individual caused widespread panic by attempting to take his own life.
Videos circulating widely depict the distressed individual perched on a bridge, a lengthy rope tied around his neck, his gaze fixed on the vehicles passing below.
Suddenly, he rose to his feet, gripping the rope tightly and engaged in a desperate struggle, slowly descending, to the astonishment of onlookers who were recording this dramatic moment.
As the rope constricted around his neck, he fought fiercely for his life, while road users and local residents rushed to his aid, clutching onto his legs.
Despite his resolute determination to end his own life, he found himself overpowered by their collective efforts, ultimately leading to his rescue.

In other news, two persons including a pregnant woman have died while others were injured when a driver – fleeing from officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) – rammed into a tricycle in the Okota area of Lagos State.
Spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command Benjamin Hundeyin described the Tuesday incident as “ugly” and noted that the injured are being treated in an undisclosed hospital.
“This ugly incident happened when a driver fleeing from LASTMA officials who accosted him for driving against traffic ran into a tricycle. Unfortunately, two persons have been confirmed dead, while two children are currently receiving treatment in hospital,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
