“No gree for anybody” is a dangerous slogan that can trigger violence – Police warns (VIDEO)

The anticipated arrival of Brand Year 2024 ushered in a wave of personal resolutions for individuals to navigate the months ahead. However, in Nigeria, the prevailing and widely adopted mantra among the youth is "No gree for anybody." This slang, seen by many as a subtle declaration of defiance against oppression, caught the attention of the police spokesperson. In response, a stern caution was issued, advising against wielding the slogan as a potential spark for violence in the country.

  • The Police force is sounding the alarm over the surging buzz of the catchphrase ‘no gree for anybody’ among the vibrant Nigerian youth.
  • This trending expression, spreading like wildfire on social media and everyday chatter, has raised eyebrows within the law enforcement, fearing it could be a powder keg for unrest nationwide

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has issued a stern warning to individuals contemplating the use of the trending catchphrase ‘no gree for anybody’ as a tool to incite violence in the country.

This slogan, playfully dubbed the national motto for 2024, essentially symbolizes a firm rejection of any kind of disrespect or bullying.

During a press briefing in Abuja, the NPF, represented by spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi, has issued a cautionary statement, emphasizing that the slogan originates from a potentially volatile movement and could act as a perilous catalyst for crisis.

Adejobi, in a widely circulated video, eloquently conveyed that the security community views this seemingly innocuous phrase as a potential spark for conflict.

In a broader context, the NPF’s cautionary stance unfolds against the backdrop of escalating security concerns in Nigeria. Alongside the alert regarding the prevalent slogan, Adejobi disclosed the apprehension of three individuals linked to the Christmas Eve attacks in Plateau state—namely, Ahmed Sulaimon, Balikisu Aliyu, and Aboki Samuel, who are presently under investigation.

The NPF’s vigilance on the ‘no gree for anybody’ slogan, coupled with recent arrests, underscores law enforcement’s proactive measures to uphold peace and order in the country. As 2024 unfolds, the ongoing discourse surrounding this popular catchphrase and its potential ramifications remains a focal point.
