  • Harrison Gwamnishu has come forward with a deeply unsettling update from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), that has sent shockwaves through the campus community and left many reeling in disbelief.
  • He unveiled the heartbreaking news of a teenage student who was brutally murdered, a tragedy that underscores a grim reality of rampant violence now plaguing the institution.
  • The activist lamented how a place that should serve as a sanctuary for learning and growth has devolved into an environment rife with insecurity.

Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has issued a dire warning to parents of daughters attending the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), urging them to have critical conversations about the importance of prioritizing their daughters’ safety.

In a passionate and urgent message shared on his social media platforms, Gwamnishu exposed a chilling reality that has been unfolding within the university’s walls—one that suggests a culture of cover-ups and negligence by the institution’s management regarding the safety of its students.

The catalyst for his impassioned plea was the tragic case of Joy Eze, a bright 17-year-old student who left for her lectures one ordinary day, only to vanish without a trace. The next day, her lifeless body was discovered, bearing the gruesome marks of violence with her face severely battered and unrecognizable.

This tragedy, he asserted, is merely the tip of the iceberg. Gwamnishu recounted a series of alarming incidents at UNN that highlight a pattern of escalating violence against students, particularly young women.

Harrison shared the harrowing tale of another female student who was lured away from campus under the pretense of picking up an item for dispatch, only to be kidnapped.

Gwamnishu revealed that a young man had also fallen victim to kidnapping from the university grounds, further underscoring the precarious situation faced by students at UNN.

In his compelling message, Harrison Gwamnishu urged parents to engage in open and honest dialogues with their daughters about personal safety, emphasized the need for vigilance in today’s world.
