Television personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown has fired back at an online critic who lashed out at her following her remarks about the viral video showing Peter Obi serving food at an event in Imo State.
The encounter, which she posted on Instagram, revealed the tense exchange between the TVC host and an outspoken supporter of Obi, popularly referred to as an “Obidient.”
The controversy began shortly after Morayo posted a subtle dig about Peter Obi’s appearance at a community celebration, where he was seen personally serving food to guests.
While many viewed the act as a gesture of humility, Morayo’s sarcastic tone struck a nerve when she labeled the move as “desperation” in an Instagram story, referred indirectly to Obi and called on President Tinubu to take a six-month leave so Obi could demonstrate actual leadership.
In response, a supporter of Obi messaged her directly, hurled vulgar insults and accused her of speaking in favor of the ruling party because of personal gains.
In a detailed rebuttal shared publicly on her Instagram Story, Morayo dismissed the accusation, stating that she has never received any financial benefit from the Tinubu-led administration or any government.
She emphasized that she earns her income through legitimate work and not political patronage. Morayo went further, revealed that she voted for President Bola Tinubu during the last election and that her right to do so should not make her a target of abuse or online harassment.
She also addressed claims about her professional affiliation with TVC, which many Obidients associate with pro-government sentiments.
According to Morayo, TVC employs staff from diverse political backgrounds, including many known Obidient supporters, none of whom she claims face the kind of online hostility she receives.
“There are plenty Obidients working in TVC and earning their salaries. No one bothers them,” she said.
The veteran broadcaster then invoked divine justice, declared that anyone who curses her without cause will face consequences.
“If I have an opinion, I should not be judged simply because I work for TVC,” she added.
