The passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari has sparked a fiery online clash between Nigerian disc jockey Obianuju Catherine Udeh, popularly known as DJ Switch, and political figure Joe Igbokwe, following strong words from both sides that trended across social platforms.
DJ Switch had earlier shared a blunt reaction to the former president’s death, referenced his administration’s handling of protests and national issues.
The entertainer, who rose to global prominence during Lekki Toll Gate saga during the End SARS movement, expressed no sorrow, reteirated that Buhari’s legacy should be scrutinized for its alleged role in human rights abuses and youth repression.
Igbokwe took to his platform to tackle DJ Switch, referred to her in unflattering terms and accused her of spreading misinformation during the 2020 EndSARS movement.
He questioned her integrity and the impact of her past public statements, described her as someone who had “damaged Nigeria” through her activism.
Joe Igbokwe responds:
“So the ugly and nusseting lady is still talking? She has not realized the damage she did in Nigeria with her utterances? This lady needs help. She must have gone kolos”

In response, DJ Switch issued a detailed rebuttal, called out Igbokwe for what she described as hypocrisy and cowardice. She defended her position and reasserted that speaking out against injustice should not attract personal attacks.
She accused Igbokwe of remaining silent during critical moments in the country’s history while attacking those who took risks to demand change.
DJ Switch fires back;
“The only thing more embarrassing than your spelling is thinking silence in the face of murder, hardship and injustice is dignity. We faced bullets for justice- what did you ever face besides spellcheck and senility?

You are defending killers but attacking a survivor… Don’t worry, history is writing your name in the footnotes under FAILURE.

DJ Switch became a national figure in October 2020 after she livestreamed the shooting of unarmed protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate during the #EndSARS demonstrations against police brutality.
Her footage contradicted government statements and was instrumental in drawing international attention to the protests.
