A poignant moment emerged this week at the airport when First Lady Remi Tinubu walked alongside Aisha Buhari, widow of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, as the former president’s remains touched down from London.
The moving scene unfolded amid heavy security and tight protocol, with both women flanked by APC dignitaries and aides. Remi was seen offering support, gently holding Aisha’s arm while guiding her through the arrival ceremony.
In the video, both women are dressed in traditional mourning attire. Remi Tinubu’s discreet composure stood out as she offered visible reassurance to an emotional Aisha Buhari, visibly strained by the weight of the occasion.

The state event was attended by guests of honour, including President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, who personally welcomed the body back into the country.
The return of the late president’s body marks a crucial stage in the national mourning period, which President Tinubu declared on news of Buhari’s passing in London on July 13.. Flag-lowering ceremonies and other honours have been scheduled to pay respects to the former leader’s legacy.
Following the arrival, the body is expected to be transported to the late president’s hometown in Katsina for traditional burial rites in Daura. Governor Dikko Radda will join the delegation to oversee the final funeral arrangements.
As Nigeria transitions from mourning into the final funeral proceedings, the scene at the airport stands out for its grace and empathy—demonstrating shared humanity even among political adversaries.
