Controversial social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has sparked a new political storm following his reaction to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma’s selective celebration of Super Falcons players, accusing him of promoting ethnic bias.
In a video posted to his social media page, VeryDarkMan condemned Governor Uzodinma’s decision to invite only seven Super Falcons players of Igbo descent to a state-organized reception.
The gesture came after the Nigerian women’s football team clinched their historic 10th WAFCON title — a victory widely celebrated across the country. However, the decision to honor only Igbo players drew sharp criticism from the outspoken activist.
VeryDarkMan described the move as a “tribal bigot act,” argued that the WAFCON title was a collective achievement by players from all ethnic groups — Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and others — and should not be reduced to a regional narrative.
He expressed deep disappointment, stating that singling out only Igbo players for recognition undermined the spirit of national unity that the Super Falcons represent.
The outspoken critic didn’t stop there. VeryDarkMan also defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Remi Tinubu, who were criticized online after videos showed Super Falcons players kneeling and bowing before them during a state reception in Abuja.
Addressing the backlash, VeryDarkMan asserted that the players’ actions were culturally appropriate and rooted in respect for elders — not a display of political subservience.
He emphasized that Tinubu, despite his leadership flaws, deserved basic respect as both an elder and the sitting president.

The video has since gone viral, drawing mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians weighing in on the intersection of politics, ethnicity, and sports recognition.
President Bola Tinubu bestowed national honours of Order of the Niger, OON, on the victorious Super Falcons, winners of the 2024 women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON.
