Reno Omokri and Peter Obi: KWAM 1, Fish Magnet, Ibom Air Passenger

Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has criticised Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi for what he described as selective outrage, following Obi’s reaction to the arrest of Ibom Air passenger, Comfort Emmanson.

The incident, which occurred during boarding on an Akwa Ibom State–owned Ibom Air flight, involved Emmanson allegedly assaulting airline crew members at the airport. She was subsequently arrested, arraigned, and remanded in prison over her conduct.

Reacting via a statement on X, Peter Obi apologised to the Ibom Air crew while condemning what he called “dehumanising treatment” by security operatives. He criticised the decision to strip Emmanson in public, calling it “unnecessary” and an “abuse by our agencies.”

Obi also compared the swift prosecution of Emmanson to the recent incident involving Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam 1, who was accused of preventing a Lagos-bound flight from taking off.

The former Anambra State governor noted that while Emmanson faced immediate arrest and court action, Kwam 1 walked free and even had government officials defending him, reteirated a double standard in enforcement.

However, Reno Omokri responded sharply via social media, accused Obi of hypocrisy and tribal bias. In his statement, Omokri recalled the death of businessman and popular social figure Ifesinachi Onyekere, widely known as Fish Magnet, who was abducted and killed in Anambra State.

According to Omokri, Obi’s refusal to publicly address the killing, despite his willingness to comment on incidents in other regions, highlights a pattern of politically motivated selectivity.

Omokri claimed Obi often ignores tragic events in the South-East but seizes on issues in the North or South-West if they provide an opportunity to criticise political rivals or influential figures from those regions.

Reno Omokri wrote;

“Over a week ago, a promising young entrepreneur meshed Ifesinachi Onyekere, popularly known as Fish Magnet was abducted and killed in Anambra, but because it is Igboland, Peter Obi said nothing. But now that something has happened in Lagos, Peter Obi has found his voice.

‘He is now using the incident as an excuse to drag King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, AKA K1 De Ultimate.

“This is in line with Obi’s tribalistic character. That is Peter Obi’s regular trademark. If it happens in Igboland, Obi will suddenly become deaf, dumb, and blind. But if it occurs in the North or Southwest, Peter Obi will dance naked in public. “
