The controversy surrounding an alleged N500 billion lawsuit involving Ibom Air passenger, Comfort Emmanson, has taken a new turn after she publicly dismissed reports linking her to the legal action.
Earlier this week, following her release from detention, several media platforms reported that a Lagos-based public interest lawyer, Ayodele Ademiluyi, had dragged the Federal Government, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and multiple stakeholders before the Federal High Court in Lagos, claiming N500 billion in damages.
The lawsuit, registered under suit number FHC/L/CS/1632/25, was said to be in response to alleged breaches of the rule of law in two aviation-related incidents involving Emmanson and Fuji music icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (Kwam 1).
The respondents in the suit included the President of Nigeria, the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo (SAN), NCAA, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Ibom Air, ValueJet, the Nigerian Police Force, the Nigerian Correctional Service, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, the state’s Attorney-General, and the Airline Operators of Nigeria, among others.
However, in a swift reaction, Comfort Emmanson released a firm rebuttal, describing the reports as “false and misleading.” She clarified that she has not filed any lawsuit yet, although she did not completely rule out the possibility of pursuing legal action in the near future.
“My attention has been drawn to a fake report claiming that I have filed a N500 billion lawsuit against the Federal Government, NCAA, and others. This information is false and misleading. I have not taken any such legal action yet,” she explained.
The Ibom Air passenger further stressed that when the time comes, she would personally notify the public of any legal steps via her official platforms. She also clarified that her actual legal representative is Adam Atakpa of Kippraise Attorneys, not Ademiluyi as widely reported.
“For the avoidance of doubt, my lawyer is Adam Atakpa of Kippraise Attorneys. I urge everyone to disregard this fake news and avoid being misled,” she added.

The rebuttal has quelled speculations, but her statement that such legal action remains “imminent” suggests the aviation sector may yet face a high-profile lawsuit over passenger rights, operational infractions, and regulatory enforcement in Nigeria’s airline industry.
