On Tuesday November 8, 2022, there will be a blood moon lunar eclipse at 6:02 a.m. ET which will be 12:02 p.m Nigerian Time. On that set time, the Earth, sun and moon will align to create a Blood Moon eclipse. It will be the last total lunar eclipse until 2025.
What is the Blood Moon Eclipse?
An Eclipse is an astrological phenomenon whereby the celestial bodies- Sun, moon & the Earth experience light obstruction from one another. When theEarth stands in between the Sun and the moon, receiving direct light from the sun and casting the shadow completely on the moon, this is the Lunar Eclipse. It only occurs during a full moon and is fascinating worldwide because it does not require any specialist equipment to see it unlike solar eclipses.
The first lunar eclipse of the year occurred on May 15-16 2022.
The second Lunar eclipse coming up on Tuesday has been termed a blood moon lunar eclipse. This is because the moon will turn red when the Earth casts a full shadow of red light from the sun on the moon. When the sun shines, it emits light of different colours.
The blue light which we see in the morning & yellow light which we often see in the afternoon are not as densely travelled as the red light which travels the farthest during this time. The shadow of this dense light is cast on the Moon by the Earth, thereby giving the moon such a reddish-copper colour, making astrologers refer to the moon at this period as the blood Moon. The more clouds in Earth’s atmosphere during the eclipse, the redder the Moon will appear.

Will We See the Blood Moon in Nigeria?
The blood moon eclipse won’t be visible to people in Nigeria and Africa. Continents that will see it are those around the pacific and most of North America.
According to NASA, this is going to be the last total lunar eclipse for three years, with the next occurring on March 14, 2025.
