Florence Otedola popularly known as DJ Cuppy is one consistent Nigerian musician who has making big strides in the music industry in recent times. Although she is known as a disc jockey, the lady has decided to be a full fledged musician.

Due to this, she has gone on to released some songs which have, in a way, gained credence with most of her fans. But not everyone approves of the moves she is making in the music industry. The DJ who just released a new song titled Charged Up was largely criticised by many on social media platforms like Twitter.

A controversial Nigerian who is known to post short skits on Instagram took to making a video in which he blatantly told Cuppy to stop singing and focus on her career as a disc jockey.

He introduced his conversation with this caption:

“I Love Dj Cuppy Too Much To Not Say This Truth. I Tried Not Make This Video But Here We Go. To All Our Shared Friends. It’s All Love At The End Of The Day. Good afternoon.”

Abisoye Olukoya Michael, popularly known as Oyemykke was firm in his opinion that DJ Cuppy should quit singing. For him, music was not her forte. Although he said he did not intend it as a pun, he still went on to say that her songs were making ears deaf.

Even more, Onyemykke suggested that DJ Cuppy should embrace the kind of woman she can become. According to him, he felt she could do more than sing by producing people’s songs, buying radio stations and supporting upcoming artistes so that they can become billionaires.

However way Onyemykke meant his words, not many approved of his public trolling of the musician who has been trying very hard to put herself on the charts and make good music.

“Guy Go & Seat Down !!! You have no idea what it means to Make a rec !! Or even make a beat ..You don’t say this in public to people you claim to Love..”

This is actually not the first person who would be making such an articulated comment about DJ Cuppy’s song. TV host Hero Daniels also gave his own thoughts on Twitter. The media personality talked about what he thought was wrong with her songs.

According to him, she was doing a lot of experiments with both her beats and lyrics which are not going down well with most Nigerians. Hero advised her to stick to what the public like before going ahead to introduce new things.

Before you can do that, you need to have stayed and gained the trust of the very hard to please Nigerian audience. If it was Tiwa savage that sang the exact same lyrics. People would be feeling the vibe

@cuppymusic should continue with the familiar style and gain grounds and street credibility first before experimenting new fusions. Don’t get me wrong, you could sometimes get lucky with new Vibes like slimcase and the shaku shaku trend

But I think it’s time to go back to what’s familiar and gradually blow our minds with your unique sound w hen you’ve gained enough grounds in the ever competitive Nigerian music space

Greenlight was hit, currency was OK but the “werk ” and “charged up” needs to be charged up. Slow down your unique style for now and tweak it to suit your primary audience. Forever a Fan

Free DJ Cuppy! Artists should be allowed to grow on their craft! Artists should be allowed to find their unique expressions in music. If it was Tiwa savage, you wouldn’t be so judgemental. Could she be better? Yes! Was she bad? No. Free DJ Cuppy pic.twitter.com/FMBghp7GpA
