An acid burns survivor identified as Obanye Francess has shown the importance of self love and the value of being at peace with one’s self. With nothing but a strong heart and inner glow, Obanye released adorable photos of herself on social media, where she has managed to garner over 7,000 followers. She stated that beauty is not skin deep and people should be happy with how they are.
This is interesting coming from someone who has had to survive the stigma that comes with looking different from the norm. Francess message sits well with people who find it difficult to accept themselves due to overwhelming and unrealistic beauty standards set by society.
Her message stands as that of hope because she has learned to look beyond her reflection and recognise an unquenchable inner light which she now radiates to the whole world through her social media page.

Sometimes, in being confident in our skin regardless of our ‘flaws’, we give others the right and courage to do the same.
