A 41-year-old man, Mr. Sunday Ngwu, has allegedly beaten his wife to death over an unresolved marital issue. Ngwu, who hails from Nkanu Local Government Area of Enugu State, had reportedly engaged his wife in a fight after an undisclosed issue erupted in their home on Monday night.

According to a source, Ngwu and the deceased, Amara, had been living peacefully in an apartment at Ikwo Street, Ibollo, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, but on Sunday after a heated argument with his wife, a fight ensued between the couple, leading to the woman’s death.

The source said: “You know he is a man, so he had upper hand in the fight. But what he did, which everybody disapproved of was that despite having beaten her very well, he proceeded to use heavy metal to smash her head, and almost immediately, she lost consciousness. We do not know what the problem between them was, and for now, the man has been arrested by policemen from Awada Police Division.”

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of Anambra Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, has confirmed the incident, saying that the matter has been transferred to Awka with the deceased’s body deposited in a morgue.
