The Governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election in Nasarawa State, Hon. David Ombugadu, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship has officially closed his case filed at the ongoing governorship tribunal in Lafia.

Chibuike Nwokeukwu, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Lead Counsel to Ombugadu made this known to newsmen after the sitting on Thursday.

According to him, they close the case against the respondents: Governor Abdullahi Sule, All Progressive Congress (APC) and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having presented the necessary documents and witnesses to prove their case.

He said that he was confident the pieces of evidence filed and gotten so far from 21 witnesses cross-examined will secure justice for the petitioner.

“We reviewed that all parts of the case have been taken care of. So there is no point over flogging the matter at the tribunal.

“With the witnesses so far cross-examined, we have enough pieces of evidence to secure justice in our favour. That is why we closed the case,” he said.

Similarly, Adebayo Adelogun, Counsel to the Governor expressed surprise over the decision but applauded the move and said his team was not against the decision.

“We were surprised because as of yesterday, the indication was that another witness will be called today. So we came prepared for that. Where we surprised? Yes but pleasingly surprised. We are very prepared to respond. Don’t forget we are the respondents,” he said.

Justice Abba Bello-Mohammed, Chairman of the tribunal adjourned the case to July 6th for the respondents to respond to the evidence brought by the petitioner.
