Court remands 24-year-old over phone theft in Ile-Ife

A 24year-old young man, Oladipupo Hammed was remanded in prison by Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday over alleged phone theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Odusina Olawale told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 12, 2019 around 2:30pm at Iremo road, Ile-Ife.

Odusina said the accused conspired with others at large to commit felony and theft.

Olawale further stressed that the accused stole one Techno LA7 Pro Android phone valued N50,000 that belongs to one Oladipupo Hezekiah.

According to him, the offence contravened sections 383, 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The accused, who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

Magistrate Habibat Basiru, did not grant the bail of the defendant, but ordered for his  remand in Ile-Ife prison custody.

Basiru adjourned the case until Aug 14, for hearing.
