Plateau State Police Command has deployed 3, 215 policemen across the state.
The Command also said there will be total suspension of the operations of tricycles on the Sallah Day being Sunday, 11th August, 2019.
The Police cautioned religious leaders against utterances that are capable of causing disaffection among the populace.
The Command stated this through the Commissioner of Police in the State, Isaac Akinmoyede, assuring the citizenry of police resolve to ensure maximum security before, during and after the Sallah celebration.
Akinmoyede said, “The Plateau State Police Command, Jos in line with its constitutional role to protect lives and property of all residents of Plateau State wishes to assure members of the public of her resolve to provide maximum security and ensure the maintenance of law and order before, during and after the Eid–el–Kabir celebration.
“In doing this, a total of 3, 215 personnel will be deployed to various points across the state for the festivity.
“Also, there will be total suspension of tricycles operations on the Sallah Day being Sunday 11th August, 2019.
The Police boss, however, said, the National Museum as well as Wildlife Park will be opened for public relaxation during the Sallah period.
“Meanwhile, the ban on the use of motorcycles in Jos Metropolis and Bukuru is still in force as provided for by Plateau State statute.
“The Command’s personnel in synergy with other sister law enforcement agents have been directed to impound any motorcycle seen and arrest the operator”, he warned.
“Similarly, the ban on the use and sales of fireworks and other explosives is still in force and violators will face the wrath of the Law.
“For security sake, worshippers are enjoined to pack their vehicles at a distance of 500 metres away from the worship centres/praying grounds and must subject themselves to security search by approved agencies”, Akinmoyede advised.
The Police Commissioner further warned that, “For the avoidance of doubt, no one is allowed to go about armed with dangerous weapons at the praying grounds, recreation Centres, Museum and Wildlife Park as firm instructions have been given for prompt arrest and subsequent prosecution of such persons.
The Command also appeals to youths in the State to stay clear of drugs and other obnoxious substances.
“Religious leaders are also enjoined to abstain from utterances capable of causing disaffection”, he stressed.
