Kogi government to sanction sanitation law offenders

Kogi State government is to sanction any commercial motor operator that violates sanitation law in the state.

This was made known on Tuesday during the flag off/launching of the 2020 Kogi State government approved motor wastebaskets/litter bags held at the Kogi State Sports Complex Lokoja

In his opening remark, the health consultant in charge of the Sales/Collection of Environmental Levy on Motor Waste Baskets/Litter Bags Data Tech Ltd, Mr Emeka Onwubiko emphasised on the importance of having an approved wastebasket/litter bag in vehicles.

According to him, failure to have an approved basket/litter bag in the categories of vehicle mentioned above is punishable as contained in the Kogi State Sanitation and Waste Management Establishment Law of April 6th, 2013 section 46 subsection XX11.

He also said that full enforcement of the usage of approved wastebaskets/litter bags will commence on the 6th of January, 2020.

In his remark, the representative of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Henry warned that the state will no longer tolerate revenue leakages or underperformance by consultants.

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police who was represented by the ACP OPS, Kayode Ayilara urged motorist to ensure that they comply with this requirement.

He also warned the field workers to work within the ambits of the law.
