Everything that a Candidates need to know about SSC CGL

SSC conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam every year for hiring staff for various Group-B and Group-C post. This process is conducted by the higher authority of SSC under the Government of India. Candidates who are thinking about appearing for the SSC CGL exam should go through the following important highlights:

  • The age limit of the candidate should be between 18 and 32 years. The exception in the form of age relaxation is applicable for specific candidates only like ex-servicemen.

  • Candidates appearing for the exam should be an Indian or of Indian origin who is planning to reside in India.

  • Any candidate who is appearing for this exam should have a minimum education qualification of bachelor’s degree.

  • The SSC CGL exam is conducted in four-tier that is tier-l, tier-ll, tier-lll, and tier-lV.

  • Among the four-tier tier-l and tier-ll is of objective type while tier-lll is of subjective type.

  • Only after qualifying all the four-tier a candidate is called for document verification.

Age limit for SSC CGL exam

  • The age of the candidate applying for the SSC CGL exam should not be less than 18 years and cannot be more than 32 years of age.

  • The SSC also considered the age present in the certificate of the secondary and higher secondary exam.

The SSC CGL offers the option of age relaxation but the provision is applicable for the candidate up to a certain age limit. The relaxation of the age limit for the various category is given below:

Nationality Criteria for SSC CGL Exam

The candidates appearing for the SSC CGL exam should be the resident of that prescribed state only. Alongside the candidates need to go through the following nationality criteria in order to apply for the SSC CGL exam.

  • First of all the candidate must be the citizen of India.

  • The candidate can be from Nepal and Bhutan.

  • In case of a Tibetian refugee, the candidate who has moved to India before 1982 and has an intention of settling down in India can apply for the SSC CGL exam.

Educational Criteria and Qualification for SSC CGL Exam

Before applying for any post in SSC the candidate must check the requirement of educational qualification. The basic requirement for SSC CGL exam is a graduation that is a bachelor’s degree from any renowned institute or university. Other academic qualifications for the corresponding post are given below:

  • Assistant Audit Officer – Candidates applying for this post should have completed there graduation from any recognized university. Apart from that, the candidate must have an additional qualification in Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant or Company Secretary.

  • Grade ll Statistical Investigator – Any candidates applying for this post should have a minimum of 60% marks in mathematics. Apart from that, the candidate should complete their graduation from a recognized university.

The Exam Pattern for SSC CGL Exam

The SSC CGL exam is conducted on a yearly basis by the Staff Selection Commission. And the exam is conducted on four tiers that is, Tier-l, Tier-ll, Tier-lll and Tier-lV. The candidate should prepare subject-wise in order to score better in the SSC CGL exam. So candidates should go through the following pattern which is given below:

It is also to be noted that tier-ll exam consists of four paper. And there is no cutoff in the selection process.

The tier-l exam of SSC CGL is basically objective type and is conducted online. The candidates appearing for this exam should go through the following exam pattern that is given below:

This exam is based on a descriptive paper and is conducted offline. The candidates appearing for this exam should go through the following exam pattern that is given below:

Tier-lV exam pattern for SSC CGL 2019

This exam is conducted by the SSC to check the skill of the Candidates appearing for the SSC CGL exam. It is conducted based on CPT(Computer Proficiency Test) and DEST(Data Entry Speed Test). The procedure of the test may vary depending upon the post one is applying for.

Document verification for SSC CGL 2019

The document verification is the last and the final step after which a candidate is selected. So, the candidates need to provide original documents during the time of document verification.
