Nigerians have taken to micro blogging platform, Twitter, to react to the news of Nigerian-British boxer, Anthony Joshua enrolling for the National Identification Number (NIN), and getting his NIN slip same day.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) announced in a tweet on Tuesday night that Joshua registered for NIN and got his slip.

NIMC tweeted:

The post did not state the location where the boxer was issued his slip.

Since the NIMC posted photos of Joshua at its office on social media, it has sparked a series of reactions from Nigerians.

While some are commending Joshua for always flying the flag of Nigeria, other Twitter users are accusing the NIMC of double standard, as they lament that the process of enrolling for NIN is always cumbersome which has discouraged many Nigerians from visiting the registration centers.

Why cant you guys make it this easy for vast majority of Nigerians this same way? Anthony Joshua is a special Nigerian right? God is watching all of us. @iammaleekpholly @Gidi_Traffic @nairaland @trafficbutter @nidcom_gov https://t.co/RRV8rLOVTQ

Comforting that Anthony Joshua got a slip too. Now let his National Id card not be ready just like mine isn’t since 2013 https://t.co/CITKFt8nM8

It's only in Nigeria that your National ID would expire before you even set your eyes on it.

In acceptance of their failure to produce permanent National ID for citizens, they have settled for the continuous usage of the temporary card & the good thing is, it would never expire https://t.co/hwNO8A7Ov6

I've enrolled for this national ID card since 2014, and I'm yet to be issued a permanent ID card. All I've to show for it is the slip.
But Anthony Joshua will most definitely get issued a permanent ID card before me.
Nigeria is for the highest bidder. https://t.co/a3Sgfg2Wps

All I'm waiting for is how long it will take Anthony Joshua to get his National ID after registration, because some people have registered since 2015 and they're yet to get it, with the lil Mathematics that I know, Anthony Joshua should get his National ID by 2025 or we protest.

Anthony Joshua has gotten the National ID he enrolled for the same day. I registered since 2015, maybe the original will be out by the time I am done having children.

Very insane country.

I applied for my national ID since 2015. I hope Anthony Joshua's will not be ready before mine. He just applied now

Done mine since 2016…still awaiting the national I D @nimc_ng
Welcome to the struggle @anthonyfjoshua

On the flip side, Anthony Joshua would get his National ID tomorrow. He's not a common man like you and me. This system is not meant for the common man, it's meant for the rich and connected. Stop stressing it. Get rich or japa.

Anthony Joshua: In summary, to God we are created equal, but to men what you have made out of your life determines how you will be treated. #NIMC https://t.co/oOTzoScOQA

— Ayemojubar (@ayemojubar) February 19, 2020

it wont amaze me if @anthonyfjoshua gets his National Identification Card instantly. But for every other ordinary Nigerians like me, it takes YEARS to get a permanent national ID card https://t.co/t8mqDP9awi

— BJ.SAMPSON (@bj_crafts) February 19, 2020

Anthony Joshua should expect to get his original National ID by 2025. https://t.co/yBQEoaai6I
