“Piercing a Child’s Ears Takes Away Her Ability to Choose”, Activist Lolo Cynthia says

Nigerian activist, Lolo Cynthia in new post spoke about how piercing a child’s ear reinforces the accepted appearance for girls.

She stated that piercing a child’s ears at birth is just to point out their gender and gives the child no choice to choose if they want pierced ears or not.

She wrote;

“The only reason the ears of your female child is pierced at birth is to point out her gender.

“It’s a harmless practices that is founded on gender construct.

“It takes away the ability of the girl to choose if she wants pierced ears & reinforces the accepted appearance for girls.”
