A Nasarawa United player, Chieme Martins slumped and died in one of the Nigeria Professional Football League games.
According to witnesses, Martins slumped after a collision with a Katsina United player, in a Sunday tie and efforts to revive him at the hospital were unsuccessful.
But contrary to that, Chairman Katsina Utd Prince Abdulsamad in his words said “There was no collision, Martins just fell on ground while standing alone.”
A video of his teammates crying after the tragedic incident has since gone viral while an official statement is being awaited from the Solid Miners.
Nasarawa United went on to win the game 3-0 but they will be deeply pained by the irreparable loss.
