A Federal High Court sitting in Kano on Wednesday fixed March 23 for the continuation of hearing in the suit filed by the deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, seeking for an order restraining the Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) from investigating him.

It would be recalled that the court had on March 6 restrained the PCACC from investigating Sanusi and ordered the maintenance of the status quo pending the hearing of the matter.

This is just as the Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the state Attorney General, Ibrahim Mukhtar on Wednesday challenged the jurisdiction of the court to hear a case on the allegation of land scam levelled against the dethroned Emir Muhammad Sanusi II.

The application was filed on 17th March 2020.

Recall that the former Kano Monarch had on Friday, March 6, 2020, approached the court with an ex-parte motion against the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission (1st respondent), Muhyi Magaji Rimingado, Attorney General, Kano State and the governor as 2nd, 3rd and 4th respondents respectively seeking that the court restrains the 1st and 2nd respondents from investigating the affairs of the applicant pending the hearing of originating motion.

The court granted the order and adjourned till March 18, 2020.

At the resumption of Wednesday’s court sitting, the plaintiff’s counsels led by Nasir Dangiri SAN informed the court about the application filed by the State Attorney General, Ibrahim Mukhtar and Governor Ganduje challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the case.

Dangiri sought for extension of time to respond to the application.

Justice Lewis Allagoa, however, adjourned the case till March 23, 2020, for hearing of the motion challenging the jurisdiction of the court and to also hear the originating motion.
