Police arrest suspect for setting government generator ablaze in Anambra

Officials of Anambra State Police Command have arrested a suspect identified as Ekenedilichukwu Ebuka for allegedly destroying a government owned property.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the 27-year-old suspect who hails from Nibo in Anambra state was arrested by police officers attached to the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) on Friday, April 24, at about 09:30am, following intelligence report.

According to report, the suspect allegedly set ablazed a government Mikano generator used for powering  street lights located at Umuokpu in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday, April 23 at about 10:30pm.

Reacting on the development, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Haruna confirmed the incident on Friday.

Haruna said the case is currently under investigation to ascertain the motive behind his action after which suspect would be charged to Court for prosecution.

In a related story, no fewer than four people reportedly feared dead in a bloody fight between Odekpe Town and Alla community in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State.
