COVID-19: Bauchi records 22 new cases, confirms first death

Ghana records 271 fresh COVID-19 cases a week after lifting lockdown

Twenty-two new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Bauchi.

Commissioner of Heath, Dr Aliyu Maigoro, stated this on Sunday evening while giving a situation update on the pandemic in the state.

He said the new cases bring the state toll to 183.

Out of the confirmed 183 cases so far, Maigoro said 69 from Azare tested positive while 114 are from Bauchi axis.

He added the active cases in the state are 176 while 6 remained discharged so far with a death recorded.

He further disclosed that 15 health workers have tested positive for coronavirus so far in the state.

Meanwhile, the State Deputy Governor, Sen. Baba Tela, who doubles as the Chairman of the Taskforce Response Committee on Lassa Fever and Coronavirus confirmed Bauchi’s first coronavirus related death, he made the disclosure while addressing newsmen over the weekend at the Government House, Bauchi , the state capital.

” One person died of Covid-19 infection at the Federal Medical Center Azare and that was yesterday in the night , the person was on admission” He said.
