Zamfara Govt announces discharge of 18 coronavirus patients

The Zamfara State Government has announced the discharge of 18 coronavirus patients from the state’s COVID-19 Isolation Centre, Damba, Gusau, after showing full recovery from the virus.

The Secretary Publicity, Sub Committee on State’s Taskforce on COVID-19, Malam Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura, disclosed in a statement in Gusau on Thursday.

According to him, Alhaji Nasiru Magarya, the speaker of the House of Assembly, who is also the Chairman, State’s Taskforce on COVID-19 made the disclosure after receiving the NCDC certification on the victims in Gusau.

Magarya said that the patients have been released from Damba Isolation Centre to reunite with their families And the society.

He said, “With this development, the number of COVID-19 patients dropped from 73 to 55 in the state while the state had recorded only five deaths.

“However, members of the public are also warned against stigmatisation or discrimination of the discharged victims.

“The government will not hesitate to take strict measures against anybody found stigmatising or discriminating against the discharged victims,” he added.

He also commended the people of the state for their understanding and cooperation with the state government in its efforts to combat the deadly disease in the state.
